The Cosy Retreat is perfect for visiting friends and relatives, as a teenage retreat or granny flat. Its stylish, clean line exterior is unobtrusive and sits easily next to any main property dwelling. Entry is via glass sliding doors which open on to the kitchenette, which features cabinetry, drawers, wall shelving and a sink. The bathroom is compact, stylish and functional with toilet, shower and vanity unit with washbasin. There’s space for a double bed or lounge suite and the double glazed windows and sliding glass entry doors, provide beautiful natural light. This clever interior floor plan maximises the space and functionality and you can customise with colour options for the fit-out in regard to benchtops, tiles and paint.

This vision started when we designed and created a two-bedroom unit project for clients. Through this process, we realised that with the right construction techniques and materials, shipping containers could be transformed into appealing, practical spaces. Owner builder Ryan Hyde completed a Cabinet Making Apprenticeship in 1997 and also has a Welding Cert, Steel Construction Cert, Carpentry Certs and a Cert 4 in Building and Construction. He has continually expanded skills and expertise across various areas over the years, completing full kitchen and bathroom renovations, shed construction, decks, patios, shipping container homes and more. Ryan also makes custom made timber furniture, with examples of work on the Ghost Wood Designs website.
